week 11 reviews

Not much time to waste, its been a hectic week at work, so here goes.  I went 8-2 last week, with 47 tacos.  Time to step it up because the end of the season is upon us.  I was going to waste some of your time talking about Lane Kiffin; but, it's the same old crap we already know; he's a cheater, liar, and an overall scum bag.  Before I start with these selections, word has it down on the Plain, that Auburn has formed a search committee to look into the possibility of hiring a new coach.  Translation, Gene Chizik is gone, end of story.  As far as the picks are concerned, I'm going with seven favorites, and attempting to pick three upsets. So here goes.

Mississippi State @ LSU (10) - Before last week, everyone was wondering if the circle would ever be broken.  Could LSU possibly lose a night game at home.  It took almost 60 minutes; nevertheless, Alabama managed to escape with a rare win, at night, down on the Bayou.  Time for LSU to start a new streak with Mississippi State coming to town.  After starting the season 7-0, State has lost its last two games by a total of 76-20.  Look for more of the same since the game is at night and in the Rouge; LSU over the puppies, 29-12.

Notre Dame (9) @ Boston College - Why bother putting this game on the pick'em slate?  Does ESPN have Physic Friends Network on speed dial?  Why else would this game be on there, unless somebody has had a vision of the Virgin Mary and she said that Boston College was going to whip up on the Irish.  Even then I would still take the Irish.  Come to think of it, I will.  Also, look for Boston College's head coach to be fired at the end of the season.  In the Catholic Bowl, the Irish over the Eagles, 33-10.

West Virginia @ Oklahoma State (8) - Here we have two 5-3 teams heading in the opposite direction.  West Virginia has lost three in a row, while Oklahoma State has won three of its last four.  West Virginia has had two straight games at home and lost both of them.  Now they head to Oklahoma State, and we all know that the Mountaineers are having their troubles on the road, in the Big 12.  Pokes over the Mountain Men, 38-29.

Kansas State (7) @ TCU - I figure that some of you are looking to pull the trigger on TCU for a huge upset because of the uncertain status of Collin Klein.  Not me, I don't care if Collin plays or not; Bill Snyder has a back-up plan, plus a huge fan in myself, like that makes a difference.  LOL.  Don't get me wrong, TCU can bring it, I just think that this is Snyder's year.  Wildcats over Toad The Wet Sprocket Frogs, 37-24.

Texas A&M @ Alabama (6) - Another game where I believe that some of you are looking to score a huge upset.  Alabama, like Kansas State, has been put on upset alert by the Einsteins at ESPN.  My question to everyone is this:  When have they been RIGHT?  Every week, they spout off about three to five teams that should be on upset alert.  Kinda reminds you of the boy who cried wolf syndrome, doesn't it.  As for this game, look for Alabama to make Johnny Football move from East to West, instead of North to South.  No hangover for the Tide in this one, Alabama over the Aggies, 34-19.

Louisville (5) @ Syracuse - This game could go either way.  The Carrier Dome is a tough place to play, even when Syracuse isn't that great.  On paper, the Cardinals should blow out the Orange; however, the Ville is prone to turning the ball over; and, if that happens, the Cuse could win a close one.  I banking on Louisville hitting on all cylinders; Cardinals over the Orange, 38-27.

Utah @ Washington (4) - The Utes are a terrible team away from the state of Utah, scoring 7, 14, and 7 points, in their last three road games.  I'm looking for Washington to have between 17 to 25 points.  So, based on that information, I'm picking the Huskies over the Utes, 23-13.

Oregon State (3) @ Stanford - Now, come the upsets.  The only one being upset will probably be me, oh well.  I'm taking Oregon State for this one fact:  When Pac-12 teams have faced Colorado this season, the following week, the defense of the team that just faced Colorado, has been manhandled.  The only team that has managed to win the following week after it played the Buffalos, is Oregon, which let USC score 51 points on their defense.  And, who did Stanford play last week?  That's right, Colorado.  Beavers chew up enough real estate to win a close one, down on the farm, 27-24.

Wisconsin @ Indiana (2) - You are looking at this correctly.  It's not basketball season, and I'm picking Indiana to win.  After Wisconsin screwed me over with that stellar performance against Michigan State, I will not pick them for rest of this season.  Plus, Indiana owes Bret Bielema a butt whipping after he ran up the score on them, from two years ago.  Remember, he was throwing the ball with a 76-20 lead, en route to an 83-20 victory.  Time for the Hoosiers to score a little payback, 31-28.

Penn State (1) @ Nebraska - Well, we all know what was going on with this game from last year.  Paterno had just been fired and emotions were at a fever pitch in Happy Valley.  As for this year, I have only won once when these two teams have been on the slate.  I have lost every time I have picked on or against Nebraska, so Penn State gets my vote; but, not by much, 24-23.

How about this, another week has passed and we haven't heard one peep from the Toxic Twins.  Life is good.  As for these selections, you know the drill, tread at your own risk.  Until next week when class is back in session, have a great weekend and enjoy the games.  Class dismissed and Roll Tide.

Week 10 picks

I hope that everyone had a better week than I did, last week. You wouldn't have needed to do too much, seeing as I was almost perfect from the losing side of the equation, with an outstanding 3-7, with 11 french fries; heck you get more fries with a McDonald's Happy Meal than what I managed to obtain. Anyway, what's done is done. Time to move on.

I'm not reviewing anything from last week; it would take way too much space to type what I'm feeling in regards to last week. I know that we have some Oklahoma fans that view this thread from time to time; and, I have one question: What the heck happened? Has Stuper Duck (Bob Stoops) lost his touch? Okay, that's two questions. Moving on.

I see where the ole dumb butt Ball Coach (Steve Stupid Spurrier) has once again opened his pie hole and managed to put his entire body into his mouth. Not once, but twice. First he took a jab at Dabo Swinney after Dabo had sent his regards in hoping for a speedy recovery for Marcus Lattimore. Then, yesterday, on the Dan Patrick show, he stated that Alabama could beat some of the bottom feeders of the NFL; Jacksonville in particular. Now I ask you, has there ever been a more asinine response to a question; the question asked to Dummy was how good is this Alabama team? And that was the response he gave. So much for this week's soap box, let's get to the trashy side of this segment, my so-called attempt at picking games.

Oregon (55 for fantasy) (10 in reality) @ Southern California - If I could figure out a way, I'd place all of my points on Oregon. No contest here. The ONLY time that Southern Cal will be in the game will be at the coin toss, and that's it. That White Mule will be resigned to eating his bucket of oats, in his staging area. Oregon, more speed, more depth, better looking uniforms, much better coach (that might be the understatement of the century); sorry Chip Kelly. I didn't mean to compare you to Lane (Mr. Liar, Liar, pants on fire) Kiffin. The Ducks swim away at the speed of light over the Trojans, 48-23.

Oklahoma State @ Kansas State (9) - Shame on me for thinking that Texas Tech could hang with Kansas State. Same principle applies here as last week's contest; that it will be no contest once the Wildcats start clawing in every direction; offense, defense, special teams, you get the picture. And so will Mike Gundy and the Pokes. Bill Snyder moves one step closer to Miami. K State Over O State, 44-28.

Clemson (8) @ Duke - Is this the week that Clemson goes Clemson and loses a game in which they are supposed to win large. Could be; but, since ole Dummy (see above) opened his stupid yapper, look for Clemson to dish out some serious yardage, and hopefully a lot of points over the Blue Devils. No worries, Duke fans; basketball season is just around the corner, plus you have already achieved bowl eligibility; and, that's saying something for Duke. Tigers over the Blue Devils, 38-17.

Alabama (7) @ LSU - I remember the 70's, 80's, and the early to mid 90's, when Alabama was 14-0-1, in the Rouge. Then, along came Mike Dumbose (Dubose), and ended all of that with his attempt at coaching. I would say be careful with your selection on this game; but, LSU hasn't shown that it can move the ball through the air, and they are not going to run it down Alabama's throat. If the Tide can keep the turnovers off the boards and no special team mistakes, LSU will have no chance. Tide over the Tigers, 27-10.

Texas @ Texas Tech (6) - Just how far has Texas sunk? What does it say for your program when you need a last minute miracle just to beat a very bad Kansas team? What it says is that you have hit bottom. Don't you just know that Aggie fans are laughing their behinds off at the Longhorn faithful. Look for the Red-Raiders to bounce back this week and send the Horns a-reeling, 39-27.

Oklahoma (5) @ Iowa State - There was a time when Bob Stoops was the Master when his team was on the Big Stage. Before this year, he was un-defeated against top 10 competition, in Norman. Not anymore. I still think that Stoops has what it takes. I love the passion that he shows on the sideline, winning or losing. As for the game at hand, it will be a tough place to steal a game; but, if anybody can figure it out, Bob Stoops will. Sooners over the Cyclones, 33-21.

Arizona State @ Oregon State (4) - Note to Mike Riley of Oregon State, if you let average to bad teams hang around till late in the fourth quarter, sooner or later, they are going to ruin your season; and that's exactly what happened in Seattle, last week. Time to right the ship and get the Beavers swimming in the right direction; right into the end zone, time and time again. As for Arizona State, the Sun Devils have a hard time away from the house. Look for OSU to do enough to ease by ASU, 29-24.

Texas A&M (3) @ Mississippi State - Holy crap, A&M just scored again; said by just about every Auburn fan. Speaking of Auburn, tickets for their game against New Mexico State are going for $5.00 a pair, not a piece. Also, the game is on pay-per-view; which begs the question: What's the over/under on how many will sign up to watch this piece of garbage? I say three; Bobby Lowder, Jimmy Rane (two big boosters who don't want to be seen at the game), and the President, Jay Gouge. Back to the business at hand. A&M was able to rest ALL of their starters for two thirds of the third, and all of the fourth quarter; meanwhile, State was being hammered by the Tide. These two teams are similar in that they both run the spread offense; A&M just happens to be a little more effective with their offense than Mississippi Lite. Look for the Aggies to do enough to slide by the Bulldogs, 31-28.

Penn State (2) @ Purdue - Take note that from now till the end of the season, all B1G match ups will be at the bottom of the points list, no exceptions. At the beginning of the week, I said that Purdue would win this one. After I flipped the coin, it came up heads for Penn State. I'm serious, I flipped a coin on these last two match ups; "heads" for the visiting team and "tails" for the home team. Penn State over the Boilermakers, 27-20.

Nebraska @ Michigan State (1) - This one came up tails, so Sparty gets the nod on this one, Michigan State over Nebraska, 19-17. Remember, if you have Michigan State winning, the score has to be a low one, because the Spartans have no offense.

I make no apologies for having no reason on the B1G games, better off drawing straws, rock paper scissors, or in my case, flipping a coin. I'd like to flip them something else, and in my mind, I'm doing so, especially at Bret Bielema of Wisconsin. Remember, after last week's masterpiece, you better tread at your own risk; or, you will wind up like me, going from the penthouse to the outhouse, in one short week. Have a great weekend and enjoy the games. Roll Tide.
