week 5 reviews

Hopefully, this will be the last week where the cupcake games out-weigh the meaningful games. I swear, we might as well label September as cupcake month. The only situation that will ever have a significant impact on these games is for D-1 college football to implement a true playoff system. If the Presidents and AD's of these Universities were smart, they would adopt at least a 12 team playoff system, or up to a 16 playoff system; but, we all know that these morons that are running these institutions, didn't go for "smarts."

Now, looking back on the week that has past, some things are still the same. The B1G continues to look like anything but a BCS conference. So far the B1G has managed to lose three games to the MAAC, go 0-3 against Notre Dame, and lose to Louisiana Tech. Like last week, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Ohio State, remain unbeaten. Ouch. And, to make matters worse, the talking heads at ESPN, say things will get better for the B1G, once conference play begins. Really? Who among us is all fired up to see Minnesota play Iowa, or Northwestern play Indiana, or Penn State play Illinois? You get the picture, this conference is a train wreck.

How about Oregon pitching a shutout against Arizona. Who knew that the Ducks could play on that side of the line of scrimmage. Before we put Oregon in the BCS championship game, I need to see how they do away from Autzen Stadium; and no, Pullman Washington, will not answer all of my questions, especially after that dive Washington State performed against Colorado. Hey, and props to the state of Oregon; both teams are undefeated. How nice would that be come the Civil War game, and both of these teams are still undefeated.

As for things in the South, I think LSU might have under-estimated Auburn. As for LSU's slip in the polls, I'm okay with it, especially since Auburn's only win came against a Sunbelt team, and in overtime to boot. As for Arkansas, I'll address that sinking ship a little further down the page. Meanwhile, once Florida State put it in overdrive, Clemson was left in a cloud of dust. With Virginia Tech losing to Pitt a couple weeks ago, Florida State is the front runner for the ACC; however, the Noles still have to go to Blacksburgh, in November.

And finally, how about Bill Snyder and the boys from the "little apple." Now, I know why I wasn't sold on Oklahoma. Before last Saturday, Bob Stoops had never lost at home to a top 10 team. Guess if you are going to lose to someone, might as well be your mentor. As for me, I finally picked more right than I had wrong for last week, going 7-3, with 37 points. Time to make the best, better.

Florida State (10) @ South Florida - Surely the Noles will not be in dream land after thumping Clemson, last week. I'm hoping that they don't hit the snooze button because South Florida is reeling from two straight losses. Seminoles over the calves, 48-17.

Clemson (9) @ Boston College - I heard that Sammy Watkins isn't playing for Clemson on Saturday. I think I heard that he has some kind of stomach virus. It must be a serious case of the "runs," because they announced it on Wednesday night, that he would not be available for the game. Oh well, it will take more than just Sammy's absence for me to pick BC for a win. Look for the Tigers to claw their way to a victory over the hapless Eagles, 34-20.

Baylor @ West Virginia (8) - All right, Mountain Men; time to strap it on. Remember, your not playing in the Big Least, anymore. As for this match up, Baylor can score points, they just can't play any defense, and West Virginia can. Plus, West Virginia is at home, and would like to make a statement that they belong in the Big-12. Look for the Mountaineers to do a little Bear hunting on Saturday, 38-27.

Arkansas @ Texas A&M (7) - For the latest John L. Williams goof, just click on the link. I swear, all we need is two or three more from this cartoon clown and we will have a greatest hits collection, all from this season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4MRgPETMIk For those of you that looked at this week's comedy relief, courtesy of John L. Smith, can understand why I'm picking the Aggies and risking seven points on them. As long as Howdy Doody is leading the Razorbacks, how can anyone pick them? A&M over the piglets, 37-25.

Texas (6) @ Oklahoma State - Both teams are coming off bye weeks, so that's a wash. Both scored in the 60's in their last contest. Neither team plays much on defense; however, I'll give the nod to the Longhorns being a tad better than the Pokes. Plus, Texas is looking for a little revenge having lost two straight to Okie Lite. Horns over the Cowboys in a shoot out, 41-38.

Wisconsin @ Nebraska (5) - What ever happened to the vaunted Nebraska "Black Shirt" defense? Not counting last week's game, the Corn Huskers are allowing the opposition to score 21 points per contest. That's not the Nebraska that I grew up watching; nevertheless, I don't think that these guys from Madison can score 21 points. Here's to hoping that the Corn Huskers gain a little respect from Bucky the badger and avenge that loss from last year; taking Nebraska over Wisky, 29-17.

Virginia Tech (4) Vs Cincinnati @ Landover, Maryland- So why is the "Nati" the home team here? Better question: Who cares? All I know is that Frank Beamer must have lit a fire under his defensive coordinator's rear end, seeing that they shut out Bowling Green; the same Bowling Green team that gave Florida all that it wanted in the swamp on opening weekend. If the Gobblers continue to play that kind of defense, they will have very little to worry about these Bearcats. Tech over the "Nati," 27-17.

Arizona State @ California (3) - As long as the Sun Devils play in the state of Arizona, they are a great team. Put them on the road, and they look less than average. Good thing for California the game is in Berkeley. However, at some point in time, the Sun Devils are going to win a road contest, so buyer, beware. I'll guarantee you this much, if Jeff Tedford losses this game, he can sure as thunder start packing his bags and looking for another gig, because this one will be up at season's end, if not sooner. I'm giving Jeff one last time to prove me right; Golden Bears over the Sun Devils, 31-28.

Ohio State (2) @ Michigan State - Last time I picked Sparty, he almost laid an egg. I don't consider Notre Dame to be much better than Ohio State. Forget last week's performance of the Buckeyes against Wannabe Alabama-Birmingham. So far, the Spartans haven't found a passing attack to cause anyone to lose any sleep; and, in order to beat the Buck-Nuts, they are going to have to send it down the field. Did I mention that going into the fourth quarter, Michigan State was up by only two points against Eastern Michigan; an Eastern Michigan team that hasn't been close to winning a game this season. Look for Urban Meyer to turn the page in his playbook and pump up the volume over the Spartans, to the tune of 24-20.

Penn State (1) @ Illinois - Had Illinois not crapped all over itself in their game against Louisiana Tech, I would have picked them for this game; but, how can anyone take a team that lost at home, 52-24, against La Tech. Before the year is over, La Tech may prove to be a good team; however, I think Illinois is really that bad. So bad that I'm picking Penn State to win a close one in Champaign, 20-17.

Before I go, can anyone tell me why Kirk Freentz hasn't been shown the door in Iowa City, as of this posting? That is one coach that manages to do less with much better talent. Don't look for him to survive the season; probably right along with Jeff Tedford and Derek Dooley; and least we forget, John L. Smith. Let the season shake out, I'm sure that there will be more; I'm just getting a jump start on potential head coaching vacancies. Remember, tread at your own risk with these picks. Have a great weekend. Oh, I almost forgot; how about a shout out for Leehawk's Huskies. In case you missed it, Washington beat Stanford, 17-13, last night. Until next week, enjoy the games and Roll Tide.

week 4 reviews

Before I unleash another outstanding list on how not to pick games, let's take another look at the week that just went by. What did we learn about the landscape of college football? I don't know about the rest of you; but, I learned plenty. First, the overall play of the B1G conference continues to sink into obscurity. With Ohio State on probation, Northwestern and Minnesota lead the conference as the only other undefeated teams. My, how the mighty have fallen. One could make an argument that the B1G is close to replacing the Big Least (East) for the worst conference among the BCS. As for the head of the class; and, in no particular order, the Big 12, the Pac 12, and the SEC are running neck and neck.

Second, a few outcomes were quite puzzling to me from this past Saturday. Beginning with Notre Dame's invasion into East Lansing, to take on the Spartans. One analyst from ESPN (Mark May, who by the way, receives my peckerhead of the week award), was constantly shouting that Michigan State's offense would run around, through, and if need be, jump over Notre Dame's defense. I watched the game, and I don't remember Sparty being able to do much of anything, on offense or defense. Three points. Are you kidding me? I can't stand Lou Holtz; but, I think he just found a way to shut Mark May's pie hole up; at least for one week.

Whoo Pig Sooie. How bout them Razorbacks. Talk about the "lost bunch." As for their coach, I told everyone last week that this moron wasn't up to the task. He's proving that fact with a couple more stupid interviews since that 52-0 beat down in Fayetteville, by Alabama. The shutout marked the first time that Arkansas had experienced that feat in Fayetteville, since 1966. It also marked the first time that Alabama had recorded back-to-back shutouts, going back to the 1980 season.

I'm not sure if the following situation occurred on Wednesday or Thursday of last week; nevertheless, the Knoxville Police Department released a statement to the media, that if any of the Vol fans stormed the field after a victory over Florida, that they would prosecute any violators to the fullest extent of the law. Memo to the Knoxville Police Department from Jljmbaker: In order to prosecute anybody, you first need to have fans in the stadium. By the end of the third quarter, Neyland Stadium was half empty; and near the end of the game, the Gators had sent Rocky Top back into the hills, or caves, of East Tennessee.

I'll bet Frank Beamer has been scratching his head after his Gobblers (that's what they used to be called, what the heck is a Hokie), were destroyed by winless Pittsburgh, 35-17. Come to think of it, doesn't Virginia Tech always manage to lose to someone in which they are the heavily favored team, each year. Didn't they lose to Dolly Madison?

Lane Kiffen. I saved the best for last. I see where "Boy Genius" threw his quarterback Matt Barkley, under the bus saying he made "poor decisions" against Stanford, last week. I disagree. The only "poor decision" that Matt Barkley made came during the off season, when he announced that he was coming back to USC and opting out of the NFL draft. Note to all USC fans (especially Larry31160), that's not the LAST loss that the Men of Troy will endure for this season. Nough said; let's move on to week four. For the record, I went 5-5, with 31 points for week three.

Vanderbilt @ Georgia (10) - Since 1960, Georgia holds a death grip on Vanderbilt in this series, with a 44-5-1, record. That equates to one win per decade for the Commodores. I know that Georgia has a few injuries and suspensions that they are still dealing with; however, the Dawgs have something that Vandy doesn't have, depth. Dawgs over the Dores, 33-10.

Clemson @ Florida State (9) - Every season, both of these teams seem to lose a game or two in which they are the prohibited favorite. Florida State is a two touchdown favorite to beat Clemson. Think back to last year about this time. Florida State was playing Oklahoma, and just about everyone at ESPN were picking the Seminoles to beat the Sooners. But, alas, the Sooners were able to finish with 10 unanswered fourth quarter points to beat the Noles, 23-13. After that loss, FSU lost back-to-back games to Clemson and Wake Forest by the same score, 35-30. Last week, the Noles got even with Wake Forest, beating them 52-0. Time to get even with Clemson. Florida State over the Tigers, 31-14.

Missouri @ South Carolina (8) - Columbia travels to Columbia. Time for Missouri to find out what life is like on the road in the SEC. Look for Spurrier's boys to pound the ball against the Tigers. Plus, Missouri is pretty banged up after these past two weeks against Arizona State and Georgia. I can hear the Rooster crowing, to the tune of 31-20, over the claw less Tigers.

Miami FL @ Georgia Tech (7) - Miami hits the road for the third time this month. Talk about road warriors. Well, maybe "warriors" isn't the proper word to use concerning this version of the South Beach football team. Tech has won two straight since that Labor Day loss to Virginia Tech. The only thing that worries me about Tech is that they are to one-dimensional. If they had a passing game, this would be a no-brainier of a pick; nevertheless, they have enough horses in the backfield to turn these Hurricanes into a tropical depression, 37-24.

Oregon State @ UCLA (6) - Here is where things start to become a little iffy. The Beavers have only played once, beating Wisky, 10-7. Turns out, that win over Wisconsin doesn't mean all that much, considering the Badgers have had to hang on for dear life against Northern Iowa and Utah State. As for UCLA, I'm not ready to jump on the Bruin Bandwagon. Turns out, Nebraska doesn't have a defense and wins over Houston and Rice, as well, doesn't mean all that much, either. I'll give the Bruins six points just because they are in the Rose Bowl; nevertheless, don't be surprised if the Beavers ruin my day. Taking UCLA, 30-24.

Rutgers @ Arkansas (5) - Here go the talking heads, again. Rutgirls has a chance to beat the Hogs. That's all that I've been hearing. Rutgers hasn't played anybody. Meanwhile, Arkansas doesn't have a coach, they have a stupid baffoon calling the shots. They might as well have a monkey calling plays up there for the price of bananas. Just think about how many bananas they could buy for the 850,000 dollars that they are paying John L. Smith to look like an actual monkey, or donkey for that matter. What was supposed to be a championship season for Arkansas has turned out to be one of survival. If they are going to survive this season, then they will need to win against the Scarlet Knights. A loss here and they are dead in the water. I'm taking Arkansas only because the "know-it-alls" are on Rutgers, 34-23.

Michigan @ Notre Dame (4) - For all of you that are picking Michigan, I know that you are pleased to see me picking the stinking Irish, because I NEVER WIN when I pick Notre Duck, or when I pick against them (remember last week, I had Sparty). If Brady Hoke can find a defense in Ann Arbor, then Michigan has a shot to upset the Irish, which will not bother me in the least. I'm putting four points on Notre Dame in hopes that the trend continues (me losing), that way, I will not have to listen to Lou Holtz (another Baffoon), touting his Irish for the national championship for another week, or so. Notre Dame over Michigan, 24-20.

Army @ Wake Forest (3) - I refuse to spend any of my time on these next three games. We all know why these asinine games are on the slate; to promote ESPN's family of networks and that stupid Game Plan of theirs. I realize that Notre Dame's game is on NBC; however, ESPN will do ANYTHING to keep the stinking Irish happy in hopes that they might be able to land the NEXT contract that Notre Dame signs. Wake Forest over Army, 23-21.

Connecticut @ Western Michigan (2) - Somebody, anybody, tell me that you know something about this game. A better question, who cares? Broncos over the Huskies, 27-24.

Syracuse @ Minnesota (1) - And, for the grand finale, I'll take the co-leader of the Legends division of the B1G, Minnyhaha over the Orange, 24-23.

Now, games that should have been on the list to replace those last three: Kansas State/Oklahoma (can't put that on there, that's a fox game), Arizona/Oregon, and California/USC. In case you didn't notice, I picked all home teams for this week, so beware. History dictates that I have five losses in that list. Your task is to find the "chosen five." Remember, tread at your own risk and best of luck. Enjoy the games and Roll Tide.

Week three games

With week three of the college football season right around the corner, I sure hope that the third time will be the charm for me in picking the games. After last week's disaster, which by the way was a stellar 4-6, with 29 shameful points; I can't do much worse, right? Only time will tell, so beware if you find yourself on the same side that I'm on.

Before I get started with the selections, I have a couple of observations that I would like to share with you. First, we found out last week that the Big 10+2, isn't a very good conference this season. So much for those silly division names which are labeled "Leaders" and "Legends." They should be renamed and called "Misfits" and "Degenerates." Second, how stupid does the B1G and the ACC conference look with their so-called division set ups. Can any of you that have an allegiance to another team from a different conference, name every team within those two divisions of the ACC, or the B1G. The ACC has been around for quite some time and I still can't tell you which teams are in the Coastal division, or which teams make up the Atlantic division. Same with the B1G. However, I could care less about the Pac-12; nevertheless, I can name (with ease I might add), every team in the North division and every team in the South division. Now that's what I call "fan friendly," as opposed to that propaganda that the B1G and the ACC have tried to unleash on the average college fan. Just something to think about. Let's move on to the cartoon part of the show, the picks.

California @ Ohio State (10) - When the California plane flies over the state of Wisconsin, do you think Jeff Tedford will throw a life-line down to Aaron Rodgers? That would probably be the only situation that would help the Bears over the Buckeyes. Meanwhile, with USC up after this loss to the Buckeyes, Tedford needs to give Samsonite a call for some extra luggage containers to help facilitate his upcoming transfer out of Berkeley. Ohio State over Cal, 38-17.

Texas (9) @ Mississippi - Three things that Oxford likes to tout, it's the burial place for William Faulkner, John Grisham graduated from Ole Miss and the tailgating in the Grove is the ultimate experience. I can testify to the latter, having been to a couple of games there. Ole Miss fans will tell you, "we might lose the game, but we have never lost the party." As for this game, the Rebels are a very bad team. So don't let the 2-0 record fool you. They might hang with Texas for a quarter or two; but, down the stretch, look for the Longhorns to trash the Rebels, 31-14.

Alabama (8) @ Arkansas - "With or Without You," a song made famous by U2 off of their best selling album, The Joshua Tree, will be the theme for Alabama this weekend. We don't care if Tyler Wilson plays or not, the result will be the same. By the way, did any of you see the goofy look that the head coach of Arkansas (John L Williams) had on his face as he realized that his team had just lost to ULM? Some things never change, I swear that was the same look he had on his face when he was coaching Michigan State and Ohio State blocked a field goal attempt on the last play of the half to cut the lead to 17-14. They eventually lost the game to the Buckeyes. Remember the sideline reporter asking ole John L about that play and his remark was "That's a dang coaching mistake...the kids are playing their tail off, and the coaches are screwing it up!." Taking the Tide over the Three Little Piggies, 34-13.

Southern Cal (7) @ Stanford - The only team that Matt Barkley hasn't beaten in the Pac-12 is Stanford. Some of the ESPN know-it-alls have been chirping all week that this could be an upset, to which I say BS. I guess that if they keep crying wolf, eventually the wolf will make an appearance; he's just not likely to show up at the Farm this Saturday. Taking the War Horses over the Tree, 37-24.

BYU (6) @ Utah - Neither of these teams have played outside of the state of Utah. This is the first road test for BYU. Utah just lost their starting QB this past week. Nevertheless, you might want to be careful when placing the point value on this game. I probably have it too high. Oh well, it is what it is. Cougars over the Utes, 29-24.

Notre Dame @ Michigan State (5) - Three weeks into the season and this is our first time to see the stinking Irish on the slate. Well, zippity doo dah. I could care less. I hope Sparty eats a 55 gallon drum full of Irish Stew and then comes back for a refill. Michigan State over the golden domer goober gobbers, 28-17.

Arizona State (4) @ Missouri - Has Jeff Sagarin lost his mind? He has Arizona State ranked third in his college football ratings. Three? Are you kidding me? To me, they are not even third within the Pac-12. They barely slide into the number three slot within their own division. Considering Missouri's struggles down the stretch last week, I guess I'll have a sip of whatever Jeff Sagarin has been drinking. Here's to hoping that the Sun Devils stick a pitchfork into the back side of the Tigers, say 31-27.

North Carolina @ Louisville (3) - The knowledge is pretty thin on this match up, and I didn't bother to do any research. Taking the Cardinals over the Sheep, but only because they are at home, 27-24.

Florida @ Tennessee (2) - After hearing that some moron Vol player say that they are going to beat Florida this week, I nearly changed my pick. I don't think that I would come out and boast that I was going to beat someone which has beaten me for the last seven years. We get it, eventually Tennessee will beat Florida. Meanwhile, in the words of Ron White, "You can't fix stupid," when it comes to the intelligence level of some of these players and their asinine remarks. With Tennessee's ability to go long on offense with Tyler Bray at the stick, and the fact that Florida survived a tough road test last week, give me the Vols over the Gators, 23-20.

Navy @ Penn State (1) - I think that everybody has had enough of Penn State. ESPN needs to give the Nittany Lions a few weeks off from the Pick'em contest. I know that I'm tired of seeing them. Plus, if they lose this game, I only see one or two more games on their slate that they might win. Talk about a bad year getting worse. Penn State scores three touchdowns (they miss all three extra points) and barely survive the Midshipmen, 18-17.

As of this post, mum is the word coming out of Fayetteville concerning Tyler Wilson's status against Alabama. Good luck to everyone with the upcoming week of games. As usual, you better tread very carefully, especially since I'm having a very bad season. Enjoy the weekend, and Roll Tide.

Week two picks

Before I get started with how I think week two of the college football season will shakeout, this is a short reminder that I am NOT, and I emphasis the word NOT, a professional handicapper or a professional prognosticator. I do this for fun. Last week, there was one Einstein which seemed to take issue with the degree of "how informative" my selections were. He pretty much trashed everything that I had written, which is his prerogative. He further stated that anyone could come up with what I had posted within five minutes; to which I say, he's full of what comes out of that White Mule's rear end, which is the mascot of his beloved team. Just for the record, Uncle Larry31160, how did your selections turn out for week one? Kind of resembled what falls out of the White Mule's rear end. As for my week, 6-4, with 39 style points. The biggest upset appeared to be Nevada over California. Say goodbye to Berkeley, Jeff Tedford. Time for you to make an appointment with Two Men and a Truck, so that you can get a head start on having your stuff boxed and ready to move. Enough with week one, let's move on to week two.

Washington @ LSU (10) Excluding bowl games, LSU has not lost an out-of-conference match up going back to the 2002 season. That year, they lost their opener to Virginia Tech, 26-8. Since that loss, the Tigers have reeled off 37 straight games away from the SEC. So if you are a Husky fan, that stat is an eye opener; plus the game will be played at night; a double whammy of sorts for the crew from Seattle. LSU makes it 38 in a row with a huge win over Washington, 38-13.

Nebraska (9) @ UCLA - Last week, Nebraska looked pretty good on offense in their win over Southern Mississippi. This week, they take their show on the road to the Rose Bowl, to engage with UCLA, a team in which the Corn Huskers have dominated, taking six out of the last seven games. UCLA opened their season with a win over Rice. So let me get this straight, both teams had wins over Conference USA teams, which isn't a big deal. So why am I placing so much value on Nebraska? That's why I'm an bush league picker, I have no idea. Then again, I like the way Nebraska has progressed the past two seasons. Look for Bo Pelini to have his men firing on all cylinders and claw out a win over the Bruins, 33-24.

Penn State @ Virginia (8) - Penn State sure let a lot of us down with that stellar performance against Ohio, last week. Seems to be a pattern up there in Happy Valley, with everything else that has gone on over the past 10 months. Virginia started their season off on the right foot with a win over Richmond. This week, I have heard a couple of so called experts say that once Penn State gets away from Happy Valley, they will be a much better team. I'm sorry, I can't justify that statement. Virginia sends Penn State to 0-2, with a win, 27-14.

Iowa State @ Iowa (7) - You never know what to expect in this rivalry game. I know that Iowa State hasn't won in Iowa City in a decade; nevertheless, this game always seems to be close. I don't know what to make of Iowa's sleep walking performance against Northern Illinois, last week. I just feel like that game was a wake up call for the Hawkeyes to get their act together as a team, especially on offense. BTW-Iowa State looked pretty good against Tulsa, winning 38-23. Let Iowa continue to sleep walk, and Kirk Ferentz can join Jeff Tedford in the unemployment line. Nevertheless, I'll take the Hawkeyes over the Cyclones, 23-17.

Miami FL @ Kansas State (6) - Yes, I know that Miami won at Boston College, last week. Miami's offense looked good against a crappy Boston College defensive unit. Speaking of defense, Miami let the Eagles roll up over 500 total yards. If the Hurricanes give up 500 plus yards to the Wildcats, the ending will be much different than last Saturday's decision. Two things that tell me that this will be a Kansas State victory; first, this is the second week that Miami has had to travel; and second, this is the second straight week that Miami has had to play an early game. Look for K-State to out last Miami, 39-31.

Illinois @ Arizona State (5) - Don't read too much into either of these team's wins from last week. Western Michigan nor Northern Arizona will garner too much attention in anybody's playbook. As of this posting, the starting QB for Illinois is listed as questionable, which probably means that he will play. Both of these teams have new coaches at the helm. Because this is a late game, I'll take the home team to scratch out a victory. Arizona State over Illinois, 35-24.

Georgia @ Missouri (4) - Georgia looked down right horrible against a Buffalo team, which came into that game with a 5-19 record, for the past two seasons. Missouri is chomping at the bit to unleash their fury on the rest of the SEC. Again, as of this posting, Georgia has not stated whether they will lift the suspensions on two of their players. And, since Rambo might not play for Georgia, I think that the Tigers could have a field day against a very suspect defense. Look for Missouri to win a close contest in Columbia, 30-27.

Florida @ Texas A&M (3) - Here's another SEC school which looked horrible in their home opener to a MAAC school. The road for Florida will not get any easier with them having to travel to College Station. Aggie fans, like Missouri fans, are eager to show that they belong in this elite conference. I know that this is Kevin Sumlin's first game as A&M's coach, so expect some hitches in the Aggies get-alongs to occur. Nevertheless, I still like A&M's chances to expose the Gators as an average team that is looking to improve, just not this week at Kyle Field. Aggies over Florida, 24-20.

Auburn (2) @ Mississippi State - Dan Mullins has done a credible job at Starkville; however, the fan base is hungry to have the Bulldogs move up the food chain in the SEC West. Just beating Ole Miss and some week sister like Kentucky or Vanderbilt, every year, is getting a little tiresome for the cow bell faithful. Now, here comes Auburn, desperate for a win. If Auburn loses this game, they could be 1-4, after week five of the college season with back-to-back games against LSU and Arkansas, looming on the horizon. Plus, just about everybody else around these parts is barking about how good State is. Okay, prove it to me; otherwise, I'll take the team that has beaten these dogs nine out of the last ten times. Give me Auburn over Mississippi State, 26-17.

Wisconsin (1) @ Oregon State - The Badgers were on life support down the stretch against Northern Iowa, last week. And, for the record, that was one ugly win, or should I say gift, that Wisconsin received. Take that show to Corvallis and the Beavers will take a huge bite out of the Badgers back side. The only thing that Wisconsin has going for it is that they have played a game, while Oregon State's game with Nicholls State was washed out thanks to Hurricane Isaac. With that in mind, I'll take Wisconsin over Oregon State, 27-24.

Okay, that does it for week two. I'm sure that there will be some more upsets that we didn't see coming, for week two; so tread at your own risk. Until next week, everyone have a great weekend, and enjoy the games. Roll Tide.
